Group Billing Manager

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Group Billing Manager to lead our Groups Billing function across the business. This is a key people and process leadership role, responsible for overseeing the billing team, improving controls, strengthening reporting, and driving transformation across usage, recurring, and project billing activities.

Salary & Benefits

The budgeted salary for this role is between 45,000 - 50,000 ZAR monthly, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and coach the Groups Billing team, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and ongoing development.

  • Oversee accurate and timely billing across usage-based, recurring, and project billing streams.

  • Ensure billing processes are well controlled, consistent, and aligned to business requirements, customer contracts, and internal policies.

  • Implement relevant billing reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators to improve visibility of team performance, billing accuracy, query resolution, and process efficiency.

  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including Finance, Sales, Operations, Customer Success, customers where required.

  • Drive transformation within the Groups Billing function by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve processes.

  • Lead initiatives to embed automation and AI into billing workflows, reducing manual effort and improving data quality, control, and turnaround times.

  • Support the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures across all billing areas.

  • Work closely with ERP, CRM, and billing system owners to support process enhancements, system improvements, issue resolution, and future change initiatives.

  • Identify billing risks, gaps, or inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions that support operational excellence.

  • Manage escalated billing queries professionally, ensuring root causes are understood and addressed.

  • Support month-end, reporting, audit, and control activities relating to billing as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience managing or supervising billing or revenue operations.

  • Strong understanding of billing processes, with exposure to usage billing, recurring billing, and project billing.

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing team members in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Proven ability to implement reporting, define KPIs, and use data to drive performance improvement.

  • Comfortable working with ERP, CRM, and billing platforms, with the ability to partner effectively with relevant teams

  • Experience supporting process improvement, transformation, automation, or system change initiatives.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across finance and non-finance teams.

  • Good understanding of billing controls, reconciliations, data quality, and customer invoicing requirements.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to balance operational delivery with longer-term improvement activity.
