The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Group Accountant to join our Finance team on a 3-month FTC contract.

The Group Accountant will play a key role in supporting the smooth migration of our group companies from Xero and Business Central to Sage 200. You’ll help ensure business continuity throughout the transition, with a strong focus on data integrity, accurate reporting and financial governance.

You’ll also support in maximising the benefits of having all companies operating on one platform, enabling accurate and timely consolidation of accounts, consistent controls and reconciliations, and the ability to report divisionally.

The role will also involve developing work instructions and quick reference guides to help colleagues get up to speed with Sage 200.

Reporting to: Group Reporting and Finance Transformation Manager

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the migration from Xero and Business Central to Sage 200
  • Developing a consolidation schedule for all Group companies
  • Developing monthly reporting packs comparing actuals to budget
  • Developing control account reconciliations as part of the month-end process
  • Drafting training documentation to support users with Sage 200
  • Supporting the transition to the new lease accounting model under FRS 102
  • Delivering reporting to support statutory account disclosures, with a clear audit trail
  • Supporting the Group Reporting and Finance Transformation Manager in ensuring Sage 200 strengthens financial governance across the business
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of reporting quality, accuracy and efficiency

About You

We’re looking for a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting experience and a solid background in group accounting and reporting.

You’ll be methodical, organised and highly detail-focused, with the confidence to work collaboratively and provide constructive challenge when needed. You’ll also be hands-on, adaptable and proactive, with the ability to work effectively in an evolving environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience using Sage 200
  • Experience preparing management accounts
  • Experience preparing group accounts or consolidations
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Strong technical accounting skills and an interest in technical standards
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Qualified accountant – ACMA, ACCA, ICAEW or ICAS

Desirable

  • Experience working in a high-growth or evolving environment
  • Experience supporting integration activity during M&A

Additional Information

This is a 3-month temporary contract, so we’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates who are available immediately or at short notice.

The role is based in Irlam and operates on a hybrid basis, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
