Groundskeeper II

In this role, you play an essential part in preserving a place of honor, memory, and respect for military service members and their families. You will ensure the memorial grounds, burial sites, and surrounding facilities remain dignified, pristine, and safe for visiting families, honor guards, and the public. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, a respectful demeanor, and strict adherence to safety standards across all seasons.
Position Information
Here is some important information about this position:
- Salary Range: $16.58 - $25.66
- FT/PT Status: Full Time
- Availability: Must be available for on-call duties as needed (e.g., severe weather events, winter operations, or urgent facility needs).
- Background Check: You must successfully pass a criminal history check.

Key Responsibilities
As a Groundskeeper II, you will:
- Maintain memorial grounds through scheduled mowing, trimming, raking, watering, and fertilization.
- Plant, transplant, prune, and nourish trees, shrubs, flower beds, and ceremonial foliage.
- Assist in the operation, routine maintenance, and repair of cemetery irrigation systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on small equipment, including commercial mowers, utility vehicles, snowblowers, and groundskeeping tools.
- Provide functional leadership and guidance to crew members during daily grounds and maintenance operations.
- Execute seasonal operations, including winter snow and ice removal along access roads, ceremonial sites, and walkways.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must have:
- Landscaping & Grounds Care: Experience in landscaping and grounds care.
- Irrigation Systems: At least 1 year of hands-on experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
You must be willing to work under the following conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Demands require strenuous physical exertion, including frequent digging, shoveling, climbing, crouching, working in restricted areas, and lifting objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
- Safety Requirements: Position entails working around heavy power equipment and handling specialized chemical treatments, requiring strict adherence to occupational safety protocols and protective gear usage.
