Days (United States of America)Operate, adjust, maintain, and repair lawn and grounds equipment. Perform grounds maintenance for the medical center and associated satellite facilities.
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Determine the means and methods to be used in accomplishing assigned tasks securing the appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and supplies and estimating time and manpower required
Service and maintain grounds equipment
Inspect lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pests
Perform periodic inspections of courtyard areas, landscaped areas, planting beds, roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots
Perform snow and ice removal as required
Capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems and equipment
Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with the established Grounds program providing recommendations for improvement and modification
Complete assigned grounds duties promptly, accurately and within the prescribed time limits
Complete scheduled staff training and in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC, Plumbing and Life Safety systems and equipment
Participate in performance improvement and information management activities
Assist in updating and modifying grounds maintenance program as required to meet facility needs
Observe safety practices and standards and wear required protective devices
Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid North Carolina driver's license required
3 months on-the-job training to become familiar with groundskeeping duties required
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Understand all safety requirements
Numerical ability to measure ingredients and learn dilution ratios
Motor coordination to operate power equipment and move equipment safely around trees and vehicles
Ability to move throughout the Medical Center
Visual acuity for reviewing product information
Work is heavy, involving lifting and carrying supplies, equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Extensive standing and walking is necessary for operating shears, pushing lawn mowers, or digging plant beds
Stooping, kneeling, and crouching for picking up waste or litter and to perform weeding and planting
Required Licenses and Certifications
Driver's License - Division of Motor Vehicles
