Job Description

The Groundskeeper is responsible for ensuring that the grounds of the medical center are kept clean and free from debris. This position monitors parking lots and side walks for trash pick up and empties trash receptacles at the entrances and areas around the medical center and grounds. This position may have occasion to drive the hospital vehicle in the performance of job duties. The position relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks and works under close supervision.

    1. Grounds are maintained by keeping all public areas including parking structures, entrances to the medical center, and sidewalks clean and free from trash and debris by utilizing brooms and or other related equipment on a daily rounding of the areas.
    2. All exterior trash receptacles outside the hospital entrances and those places on the main campus including parking building and adjacent building are emptied daily.
    3. Entrances, trash receptacles, and sidewalks are power washed as necessary, or at least annually to assure a clean grounds appearance.
    4. Grass and flower beds in the various areas are planted seasonally and maintained by weeding, mulching and watering. The sprinkler system is kept operational and functional at all times and reported to Plant Operations Coordinator if repairs are needed.

    1. Inspections of sidewalks and parking areas are completed at least monthly, and any hazards are reported for repairs.
    2. Assigned equipment and working area is properly cleaned and maintained; tools and equipment are stored after use or at the end of the shift.
    3. Seasonal or event related decorations are placed for display in various locations and returned for storage as scheduled.

    1. Assistance is provided to Plant Operations Coordinator with moving or relocation of equipment around the facilities as scheduled.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:
