Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Monmouthshire to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £13.26 - £17.15 per hour

The Ground Maintenance Operative will support the delivery of grounds maintenance and environmental services across Monmouthshire, ensuring public open spaces, verges, schools, landscaped areas, and contracted sites are maintained to a high standard. The role involves operating grounds maintenance equipment, maintaining local environmental quality, and contributing to the Council's vision of providing a safe, clean, and sustainable environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out grass cutting activities using both handheld and ride-on equipment across parks, open spaces, schools, and public areas.
  • Undertake grounds maintenance duties including landscaping, horticultural maintenance, shrub bed upkeep, and annual bedding maintenance.
  • Assist with sports pitch marking and maintenance of sports facilities.
  • Carry out arboriculture and environmental maintenance works as required.
  • Empty litter bins and undertake litter picking across open spaces, verges, and public areas.
  • Respond to fly-tipping incidents and follow correct procedures for evidence collection and disposal.

Essentials

  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence (Essential)
  • Relevant grounds maintenance or horticultural experience.
  • Previous experience working within grounds maintenance, environmental services, landscaping, or a similar outdoor environment.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team
