Maintains HHC grounds, parking lots, and exterior areas to ensure a safe, attractive, and fully functional environment. Tasks include mowing, trimming, planting, snow/ice removal, debris pickup, minor repairs, event setup, and support for Facilities Operations.
Day in life: A typical shift begins with a 6:30 a.m. safety huddle to review weather conditions and assign priorities, such as mowing, snow removal, or event setup. Throughout the day, the worker cycles between ground care (mowing, trimming, plowing, and de-icing), equipment checks and minor repairs, and support tasks such as furniture moves, vendor escorts, patching potholes, logging hazards, and completing work as needed. Before clocking out, all tools are cleaned and secure, vehicles are fueled, and a brief status update is provided to the supervisor regarding outstanding issues and next-day needs.
