The Custodian I performs a substantial variety of general custodial duties necessary for the maintenance of county-owned facilities and restrooms. Under minimal supervision, Custodians are provided all necessary personal protective equipment.

Working Environment and Physical Demands
The person in this position needs to frequently move about within buildings and outdoors to facilitate custodial tasks.
Frequently ascends/descends ramps and naturally elevated surfaces in parks.
Constantly positions self to maintain all aspects of County facilities, including retrieving items from the ground and in small spaces in restrooms.
Frequently communicates with supervisors regarding safety and custodial instructions. May communicate with the public regarding condition and/or use of facilities. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to inspect and assess County facilities, including outdoor trash-collection areas, and perform needed custodial functions based on assessment.
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, including objects up to 20 pounds in weight.
Constant movement and use of limbs; position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
The position functions frequently in an outdoor environment and is subject to outside environmental conditions, including inclement weather, extreme temperatures and humidity, pollution and dust. Noise level is moderate.
