Job Description

$250 Sign-On Bonus: First $125 paid after 30 days of employment; the remaining $125 paid at the end of the season.

Seasonal Position: March-November

Option to work other available positions with Didlake during off season.

Why This Role Matters

The Grounds Laborer – Maintenance plays an essential role in maintaining safe, clean, and professional federal facilities. This position ensures that grounds, equipment, and surrounding structures are properly maintainedin accordance with the Contract Statement of Work, Standard Operating Procedures, and Didlake policies, supporting daily operations and promoting a respectful, team-focused work environment.

  • What You Will Do
  • Perform day-to-day operations of the federal site grounds maintenance contract.
  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties, including buildings, parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields, and greenhouses.
  • Cut grass using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs).
  • Trim hedges and edge around walkways, flowerbeds, and wells using hand and power tools.
  • Prune shrubs and trees to improve appearance and healthy growth.
  • Apply fertilizer and insecticide to lawns, shrubs, and trees.
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns and shrubs during dry periods using hoses or sprinkler systems.
  • Remove leaves, litter, and debris by burning or carting away.
  • Remove snow from walkways, driveways, roads, and parking lots using shovels and snow blowers; spread salt on walkways and other areas as needed.
  • Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
  • Assist with minor repairs to roadways, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
  • Clean comfort stations, offices, workshops, and parking areas by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
  • Ensure proper operation and care of all assigned equipment and hand tools.
  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures and contract requirements.
  • Meet performance standards through timely, accurate work and adherence to production schedules.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) months of experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Must have a valid Real ID for access to the work site.
  • Have valid driver's license and be insurable under Didlake's automobile policy. Requirements include but are not limited to a minimum of 3 years of licensed driving and being at least 25 years old.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required credentials and background checks as required by the contract.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to learn the proper use and basic operator maintenance of routine grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting contract standards.
