Job Description

Job Summary
Assist the Grounds Manager with the daily upkeep of the grounds of Crystal Mountain.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and grade terrain, apply fertilizers, seed and sod lawns, transplant shrubs and plants.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
• Plant new and repair established lawns using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for particular soil type and lawn location.
• Weed and grub around trees, bushes, and flower beds.
• Spray trees and shrubs and apply supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawns and trees.
• Maintain a weed and litter free entrance area.
• Haul and spread topsoil and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
• Trim and pick flowers and cleans flower beds. Water trees/flowers as necessary.
• Learn approved uses for and follow proper maintenance of landscaping tools.
• Report any guest problems, requests, or complaints to your supervisor and follow up to resolve the issue if possible.
• Report any damage immediately to supervisor.
• Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saw.
• Mow grass and turf using hand or power mower.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizer, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees using hand or automatic sprayer or spreader.
• Water grass, shrubs, or trees using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system and cultivate gardens.
• Condition and prepare soil for planting using gardening tools.
• Remove leaves and other debris or litter from grounds, using rake, broom, or leaf blower.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical & Other Requirements:
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
• Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/ cold and to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
• Non-smoking candidates preferred.
