Job Description

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Ground Maintenance Operative, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.10 - £18.25 per hour

A Ground Maintenance Operative is required to support the maintenance of communal areas across local estates. Reporting to the Estate Services Manager, you will carry out a range of cleaning, gardening, minor repairs and general estate maintenance duties to ensure communal areas are safe, clean and well maintained. Tools, machinery, uniform, safety boots and personal protective equipment will be provided, with training available where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain communal areas to a clean, safe and high standard.
  • Carry out spot cleaning including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing and litter picking.
  • Clean and maintain refuse chutes, bins and bin storage areas.
  • Use equipment such as jet washers and steam cleaners for deep cleaning when required.
  • Carry out basic minor repairs in communal areas and residents' homes, including minor joinery, basic plumbing, painting, graffiti removal and lock changes.

Essentials:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding work.
  • Good practical skills and the ability to carry out a variety of basic maintenance and minor domestic/building repairs.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, contractors and colleagues.
  • Ability to use a smartphone for emails and reporting repairs or health and safety issues.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements within an estate maintenance environment.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Standard DBS
