Leidos’ Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program is seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Engineer to support the emplacement of new and innovative radar systems. This is a large, multi-phase radar program with concurrent development, test, production, and sustainment activities. As Deputy Chief Engineer, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer, providing technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring design integrity, technical performance, and disciplined engineering execution. This role requires a systems-minded leader with the ability to coordinate technical work based on cost, schedule, risk, and requirements. Frequent travel to emplacement sites may be required.

Primary Responsibilities
Support the Chief Engineer in leading the technical team to design, manufacture, and deliver a radar system that meets all requirements.
Assist in navigating software, signal processing, mechanical, and electrical engineering challenges with support from subject matter experts.
Help oversee and manage the technical baseline.
Balance technical solutions with cost and schedule constraints.
Support the Chief Engineer for engineering execution, system performance, and requirements compliance across all lifecycle stages.
Participate in risk and engineering review boards.
Communicate technical progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and government stakeholders.
Coordinate with subsystem leads, IPT leads, and specialty engineers to ensure design maturity, integration, and risk mitigation.
Mentor and develop technical staff, fostering innovation, rigor, and collaboration.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
BS + 8 years of progressive engineering experience, or MS + 6 years.
At least 5 years supporting or leading multidisciplinary teams.
Experience supporting large DoD or aerospace programs.
Demonstrated success working on complex, multi-disciplinary teams through development, integration, test, and production.
Strong technical judgment and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with design reviews (PDR/CDR), configuration management, and risk management.
Basic understanding of radar systems and signal processing.
Active DoD security clearance.
Resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting programs over $100M.
Experience with radar, EO/IR, or advanced sensing technologies.

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
