Grooming & Beauty Consumer Experience & Insights Director

As the Consumer Experience & Insights Director for the Grooming & Beauty business, you will be the key advocate for consumer needs, ensuring that our products and services align with consumer expectations and market demands.

In line with the recent evolution of the Consumer Experience & Innovation organization, this role is pivotal in shaping a more focused, category driven and future-oriented insights function—balancing deep category ownership with cross-category foresight and innovation.

You will lead the development and execution of user experience and insights strategies, translating insights into impactful design and product decisions while ensuring strong business proximity and accountability across categories.

Your role:

  • Lead the development and execution of consumer experience and insights strategies for the Grooming & Beauty business.
  • Cross-category insights and foresight, focusing on future trends, innovation opportunities, and long-term consumer needs.
  • Drive the integration of AI and advanced analytics into consumer experience and insights, leveraging internal platforms and emerging technologies to enhance research speed, depth, and scalability .
  • Define and scale AI-enabled research approaches, including automation of insights generation, predictive consumer modeling, and augmentation of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ensure strong business proximity and accountability, enabling closer collaboration between research teams and business categories.
  • Oversee qualitative and quantitative research initiatives, ensuring findings inform design, product, and innovation decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with product development, design, and business teams to embed user-centered principles into products and services.
  • Drive the adoption of human-centered insights practices across the organization.
  • Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • Manage and mentor a team of user insights specialists & analysts

You're the right fit if:

  • You have 10+ years of experience in user experience, consumer insights, or a related field, preferably within consumer goods or beauty/grooming industries.
  • You possess a strong background in user-centered design principles, research methodologies, and data-driven decision-making.
  • You have experience leading complex, matrixed organizations with both category and centralized capabilities (aligned to org change intent).
  • You are proficient in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, including usability testing, ethnographic studies, and survey analysis.
  • You have experience in leading cross-functional teams and working with product development, marketing, and design stakeholders.
  • You demonstrate excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable business decisions.
  • You have a track record of driving innovation through consumer insights and human-centered design approaches.
  • You are skilled in leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance user experience research and analysis.
  • You hold a degree in Human-Centered Design, Psychology, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • You have strong leadership and communication skills, with experience in mentoring and developing teams.
  • You are passionate about understanding consumer behavior and creating exceptional product experiences.

This position is based in Amsterdam with some travel to Drachten, The Netherlands
