About Rainbow Greenhouses

Rainbow Greenhouses is one of Canada's largest live goods suppliers, growing and delivering quality plants to major retailers across BC and Alberta. With over 1,000 team members at peak season across multiple sites, we're proud to grow not just plants — but people and careers.

About the Role

Are you a recent high school graduate looking to kick off your career in a hands-on, fast-paced environment? This is your opportunity to get your foot in the door at one of BC's most established horticultural operations.

We are launching a dedicated Summer Student cohort for 2026 — a group of motivated, curious, and hardworking individuals who will onboard together, learn together, and grow together. This structured program is designed to give you a real introduction to greenhouse production and horticulture, with the support and mentorship you need to succeed from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with day-to-day greenhouse production tasks including planting, transplanting, watering, and harvesting
  • Support plant care activities such as trimming, spacing, staking, and quality checks
  • Work alongside experienced team members to learn greenhouse operations from the ground up
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in line with health and safety standards
  • Contribute positively to the team culture and uphold Rainbow's values of safety, quality, and respect

What We're Looking For

  • Recent high school graduate (Class of 2025 or 2026) or current high school student entering your final year
  • Interest in plants, horticulture, agriculture, or working outdoors — no prior experience required
  • Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work in a greenhouse environment (warm temperatures, repetitive tasks)
  • Positive attitude and a team-first mindset
  • Able to commit to the full summer season through to end of August

What We Offer

  • A structured onboarding experience — you won't be navigating your first job alone
  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced greenhouse professionals
  • A supportive team environment where your growth and safety are the priority
  • The opportunity to build real, marketable skills in one of BC's leading agricultural industries
  • Potential for future employment and career growth within Rainbow Greenhouses for high performers

About Rainbow Greenhouses Inc

We're a full-service horticultural producer delivering live plants and value-added solutions to major retailers and independent partners across Western Canada and the Northwestern United States.

Rainbow started in 1985 as a family-led greenhouse guided by the Vander Waal's commitment to quality, relationships, and long-term growth. Today, with the confidence of our retail partners, the dedication of our teams, and the continued support of our customers, we continue to expand our operations.

We produce ornamental annuals, perennials, tropical foliage, indoor flowering plants, vegetable starters, and cut flowers on a commercial scale, using advanced systems across every stage of production. Spanning more than five million square feet of growing space in British Columbia and Alberta, our teams combine decades of horticultural expertise with precision systems that emphasize efficiency and deliver consistent results at scale.

We continue to innovate through automation, fertigation, and integrated pest management practices. These advancements help us support our teams, protect resources, and deliver high-quality plants year-round. Every system, from propagation and cultivation to distribution and merchandising, has been refined to provide our retail partners with a complete, full-service approach.

Our mission is to grow opportunities for plants, people, and partnerships. That means cultivating careers, building trusted relationships, and maintaining practices that strengthen both our operations and the resources we depend on.

Rainbow’s people-centered culture reflects our GRIT values: Go for it, Rise to the challenge, Improve every day, and Tackle it together. Across all facilities, we’re focused on continuous improvement, shared success, and advancing modern horticulture through efficiency and teamwork.
