Start your veterinary career somewhere that feels good to grow!
Across North Queensland, our Greencross clinics are ready to welcome 2027 graduates into teams that care deeply, teach generously, and remember what it felt like to be starting out. From Townsville to Bundaberg and Cairns, you will be part of a network that gives you the structure, people and clinical variety to build your confidence in a steady, supported way.
Greencross is Australia’s leading veterinary care network, with opportunities across General Practice, Specialty and Emergency hospitals. Our graduate program is designed to help you find your feet, back yourself in consults, build safe surgical and medical foundations, and start shaping the kind of vet you want to become.
What you can expect during the Greencross Graduate Program
Our 18-month Graduate Development Program gives you a permanent role with a clear, practical pathway from university into clinic life.
You will be supported with:
• Online modules, practical workshops and clinical placements that build your day-one skills
• Exposure across areas that match your interests, including Specialty and Emergency hospitals, the RSPCA, and international or charitable placements through the Petbarn Foundation
• A national graduate cohort, so you are learning alongside people at the same stage of the journey
• An invitation to the Greencross Clinical Conference, held each October and recognised as Australia’s largest annual veterinary clinical conference
• Regular check-ins with the Graduate Coordinator
• Guidance from your in-clinic team and access to your Regional Clinical Director when you need support
• Future pathways across leadership, business ownership, memberships, specialty pathways and broader Greencross network roles

About the Role
As a new vet with Greencross, you will not be expected to know everything on day one. You will be introduced to consulting, surgery and medical case management at a pace that supports your learning, confidence and patient care.
We know every graduate grows differently. Some days you will feel brave. Some days you will have questions. We are here for both. You will be surrounded by people who help you think through cases, build good clinical habits, communicate clearly with clients, and keep coming back to why we do this work: helping pets live long, happy and healthy lives.
We are excited to offer 2027 graduate opportunities across clinics in Townsville, Bundaberg and Cairns
Please note, recruitment for graduate opportunities in other states and specialist hospital internships will be advertised in the coming months.
Who will thrive here
You will feel at home in this program if you are curious, kind and ready to keep learning. We are looking for graduates who want to ask questions, take feedback well, care about the small details, and build trust with clients and their pets.
You do not need to have it all figured out. You just need to bring care, humility, energy and a willingness to grow with your team.
Qualifications
• A veterinary degree recognised by the Australasian Veterinary Board Council
• A strong commitment to patient care and clear client communication
• A learning mindset and a positive contribution to clinic life
What we back you with
We back our graduates with structure, clinical guidance and room to grow. You will have access to development opportunities across the Greencross network, graduate-specific support, clinical conference learning, career pathways and a broad community of veterinary professionals who want to see you succeed.
