We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Elmbridge to assist with the appointment of a Green Spaces Manager, on a 2-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £247.20 - £325.39 per day

Summary:

Elmbridge Borough Council is seeking an experienced Green Spaces Manager to lead and strategically develop its Green Spaces services. The role will oversee more than 100 parks, recreation grounds and open spaces, over 20 countryside sites, including 360 hectares of Esher Commons SSSI, as well as cemeteries, allotments and war memorials. The successful candidate will be responsible for contract management, procurement, budget management, project delivery and service improvement, while working closely with local communities, Councillors, contractors and external partners to ensure high-quality, safe and accessible green spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Council's Green Spaces contract, cemeteries service and countryside team, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Lead and strategically develop services covering parks, recreation grounds, open spaces, countryside, cemeteries, allotments and war memorials.
  • Manage and monitor landscape and grounds maintenance contracts and contractor performance.
  • Support the delivery of a circa £5 million capital programme during the 2026/27 financial year.
  • Lead on procurement, tendering, contract documentation and moderation of tenders.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification at degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Essentials:

  • Significant management experience within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Experience managing landscape and grounds maintenance contracts.
  • Experience in project and change management.
  • Experience managing revenue and capital budgets.
  • Experience working with Councillors, community groups and local residents to improve services.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Basic DBS
