INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING

JOB TITLE: Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Associate Teacher

LOCATION: Madison Early Childhood Center

START DATE: August 19, 2026

SALARY: Per AFSCME Local 1445 Collective Bargaining Agreement

Madison District Public Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic GSRP Associate Teacher to support the implementation of a high-quality preschool program. The associate teacher works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of all children.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or willingness to obtain required GSRP qualifications.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a classroom team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with young children throughout the day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and classroom routines.
  • Support individual students and small groups in developing school readiness skills.
  • Foster positive relationships with children through developmentally appropriate interactions.
  • Assist with classroom management, supervision, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Help prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom.
  • Support meal, snack, toileting, arrival, dismissal, and playground routines.
  • Observe and document student progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Encourage positive social-emotional development using positive behavior supports.
  • Participate in family engagement activities and program events as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
