Pay: $12.00 per hour
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs outdoor grounds maintenance for the City of Wheeling, ensuring safe and well-maintained public spaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mow and maintain grass in city-owned areas.
Operate and maintain grounds equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and washing; report any maintenance issues.
Follow all work zone safety procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, heat, cold, and wet/humid conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment.
Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years old.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong commitment to safety.
Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Able to perform physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
