Legal Advocacy Unit / Grants
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Grants Compliance Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support to the Grants Unit. This position is responsible for organizing information pertaining to current, potential, and new grant applications, reports, and tracking. The Coordinator performs additional administrative tasks associated with grant compliance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
DRC provides reasonable disability accommodations to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Grants and Compliance Coordinator essential functions include:
1. Compliance Support
- Support multiple grant reporting and compliance throughout the year, with particular attention to the high-volume period of October through January, when numerous reporting requirements with firm deadlines occur simultaneously.
- Compare and update grant report and application template questions to enable the preparation of accurate information;
- Assist with report and application revisions; work with program staff to resolve issues and support resubmission to funder;
- Upload application and report information in grant portals; troubleshoot as needed to ensure accuracy;
- Update and organize grant templates, drafts, and references on internal drives and folders;
- Proof and edit grant applications, reports, and other submissions for correct and compliant narrative, data, and notes , ensuring that the documents best present DRC’s accomplishments;
- Support with upload and submission of timely, professional, and accurate grant reports including federal Program Performance Reports (PPRs) in accordance with grantor requirements;
2. Data Management Support
- Collaborate with program, development, finance, and administrative staff to collect, verify, organize, and report grant-related data;
- Support the maintenance of standardized data collection, recordkeeping, and reporting practices to improve data integrity and reporting accuracy;
- Assist with preparation and validation of programmatic and compliance data used in grant applications, reports, monitoring reviews, audits, and special projects;
- Support the collection, validation, organization, and maintenance of data pertaining to grant reports, applications, monitoring activities, audits, and special projects;
- Track, organize, and maintain data associated with prospective grants, including eligibility requirements, application deadlines, reporting obligations, and funder updates;
- Maintain organized and accurate grant data, records, and supporting documentation to ensure accessibility, compliance, and data integrity.
3. Fund Development Support
- Assist with administrative and organization of information, data, and notes pertaining to internal grant inquiries and DRC eligibility;
- Track and organize data associated with potential new grants including eligibility, review, reporting, and updates;
- Coordinate internal and external staff calendars, meetings, agendas, and timelines associated with tasks and deadlines.
OTHER DUTIES

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one (1) of the following qualifications:
1: Experience-Based Qualification
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in grant administration, grant compliance, program administration, contract administration, project management, data analysis, fund development, nonprofit administration, project coordination, or a closely related field.
2: Combination of Education and Experience
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, English, Social Sciences, Legal Studies, Accounting, Finance, Human Services, Mathematics, or a closely related field; and
- Two (2) years of professional experience in grant administration, grant compliance, program administration, contract administration, project management, data analysis, fund development, nonprofit administration, project coordination, or a closely related field.
3: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, English, Social Sciences, Legal Studies, Accounting, Finance, Human Services, Mathematics, or a closely related field; and
- One (1) years of professional experience in grant administration, grant compliance, program administration, contract administration, project management, data analysis, fund development, nonprofit administration, project coordination, or a closely related field.
4: Equivalent Combination
- An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to organize, maintain, and upload large volumes of data with a high degree of accuracy and minimal errors.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify errors, trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Experience supporting project planning, project management, workflow coordination, timeline management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including the ability to prepare technical and administrative documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, including persons with disabilities, advocacy organizations, community stakeholders, and the public.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based applications, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management).
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel may be required for certain meetings throughout the State of California.
WORKING CONDITIONS
