Job Description

Status: Full-Time, LTE (Temporary), No Benefits, Non-Exempt

Starting Wage Range:
$31.19/hr.

Duration: September 17, 2026 to September 17, 2027

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Researches, identifies, and evaluates grant opportunities relevant to County operations.
  2. Develops, writes, and submits grant applications, proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  3. Coordinates with Administrator, County departments, and external partners to gather required information for proposals. Responds to inquiries on drafted and submitted grants.
  4. Demonstrates courteous, professional, and strong customer service skills.
  5. Submits grant proposals to the Administrator or designee for approval.
  6. Ensures all grant applications comply with grantor requirements, regulations, and deadlines.
  7. Manages awarded grants, including tracking expenditures, timelines, performance data, and reporting requirements.
  8. Prepares and submits required progress reports, financial reports, reimbursement requests,
  9. and closeout documents.
  10. Maintains organized grant files and documentation consistent with County and grantor retention policies. Maintains thorough documentation of grants awarded or denied, amount requested, amounts received, and detailed funding history.
  11. Monitors grants for compliance with Federal, State, and local rules, as well as organizational policies.
  12. Assists in developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to grant management.
  13. Provides technical assistance to County staff regarding grant rules, performance measures, and programmatic expectations.
  14. Coordinates and communicates with funding agencies, program monitors, auditors, and community partners.
  15. Tracks and reports project outcomes and performance metrics to support continued funding.
  16. Supports budget development for grant programs and collaborates with finance staff to ensure accurate accounting.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge and/or experience in County-related activities.
  • Knowledge of grant writing techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and private grant programs relevant to law enforcement.
  • Understanding of budgeting principles and financial reporting requirements for grants.
  • Ability to maintain ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant regulations, program rules, and related statutory requirements.
  • Skill in researching and analyzing data, identifying funding needs, and preparing persuasive narratives.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, meet stringent deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, organized records and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex written materials.
  • Skill in building effective working relationships with internal staff, external agencies, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times.
  • Ability to perform detailed work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and respond to deadlines or urgent requests as needed.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, climbing, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Work has standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing and exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work involves preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy office setting.
  • Occasional travel to trainings, meetings, or grant‑related site visits may be required.
