Job Description

Grant Writer
  • Full Time/Exempt: 36-hours a week
  • Schedule: Flexible schedule Monday through Friday, 3 remote days/2 in-office days.
  • $65,000 annually

The Bridge is seeking a Grant Writer responsible for the management, oversight, and administrative function of the agency’s grant application and management process. Additionally, this position will proactively identify and research new government, corporate, foundation, and congregational grant opportunities and other funding sources. As well, as support our efforts to reach new donors and retaining existing ones and play an important role in our foundation cultivation and stewardship.
The ideal candidate will have at least some development writing experience, and basic knowledge of the issues and concepts that relate to domestic violence/ sexual assault issues within the surrounding area. They will be able to handle a high volume of writing projects in a variety of styles and formats and demonstrate mastery of a range of concepts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Research, identify, and evaluate prospective government, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with the Agency’s programs, mission, and strategic priorities, while maintaining an active pipeline of prospective and renewal funding opportunities.
 
  1. Lead the full lifecycle of grant proposal development, including planning, writing, editing, and submission of competitive grant applications, renewals, and letters of inquiry in compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines.
 
  1. Develop compelling, data-driven narratives that clearly articulate community needs, program design, service delivery models, outcomes, and organizational impact in alignment with funder priorities.
 
  1. Collaborate with Program Directors, Executive Leadership, and Finance Director to gather programmatic information, budgets, outcomes data, evaluation metrics, and support documentation for the development of high-quality proposals and financial projections.
 
  1. Develop and manage a comprehensive grants timeline calendar tracking proposal deadlines, submission requirements, renewal dates, and reporting requirements.
 
  1. Maintain organized grant records and documentation, including proposal files, funder requirements, and submission materials to support compliance and future funding opportunities.
 
  1. Support funder stewardship and communication efforts, including responding to requests for additional information, preparing proposal updates, and assisting leadership in maintaining strong relationships with institutional funders.
 
  1. Monitor emerging funding trends, policy changes, and best practices in grant writing and nonprofit funding to strengthen the Agency’s competitive position and inform strategic funding decisions.
 
  1. Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional grant writing experience, preferably within a nonprofit or human services organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, English, Social Sciences, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Grant writing certification or professional training in institutional fundraising is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or other trauma-informed service environments.
  • Available to work occasional evenings or weekends when necessary to meet proposal deadlines.

Other Requirements
  • Must pass criminal background investigation check
  • Must provide and maintain current TX Driver’s License
  • Must provide and maintain clean driving record and biennially update driving record.
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Must be able to lift/carry (40) lbs, and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting.
