Job Description

This position will assist the SMAS in the administration, management and evaluation of federal and state grant programs and any subgrants assigned to the position, for the duration and lifecycle of the grant. This position is responsible for the administration and management of state and local subgrants assigned to the position from time of award to the time of closing.

  • Assist in the administrative and program review/analysis of subgrant applications to ensure compliance with applicable statutes, code, rules, regulations, policies and procedures to recipients/subrecipients of OCJG state and federal grant programs. Review concept papers submitted regarding new programs. Provide advice and technical assistance to local units of government and other agencies regarding program development.
  • Reviews and processes monthly or quarterly financial reimbursement requests and annual Criminal Justice Financial Closeout Packages submitted by subgrantees.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations regarding the appropriateness of programmatic, fiscal, and administrative changes requested by subgrantees.
  • Establishes and maintains Program Generated Income (PGI) files, including review of quarterly PGI reports, expenditure requests and processing contractual agreements authorizing PGI expenditures.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops, seminars, and training activities and performs additional assignments as required.
  • Works closely with OCJG management to establish those knowledge’s, skills and abilities relevant to specific job classifications and to develop effective methods for determining job proficiencies.
  • Work closely with assigned grant members to ensure that any specialized needs they might have are met.
  • Focus on performance problems that might be solved through training.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system including courts, corrections, law enforcement and support activities;
  • Knowledge of researching statutes, federal code and manuals relating to criminal justice grants;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis; Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
  • Ability to evaluate program performance and recommend problem solutions;
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices;
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials;
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to work independently.

Performs other related duties as required:

  • Read and acknowledge FDLE Policies & Procedures within 30 workdays of employment or 30 workdays of issuance of revised Policies.
  • Responsible for the care, custody and control of all property assigned. If property is lost or damaged through the member’s negligence or misuse, then the member may be subject to disciplinary action or be required to reimburse FDLE for the loss or damage.

As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), your position may be designated as an essential service position for a given period, and you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
