Summary

The Travis County Auditor’s Office has an opening for a Grant Auditor. We are looking for individuals who want to work in a progressive, challenging, and team-oriented work environment that accelerates employee growth and recognizes performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accountancy from a 4-year accredited university, 5+ years of relevant work experience, and professional certification. To be successful in the job the candidate must possess excellent analytical, communication, computer, time management, and problem-solving skills. Additional characteristics include being a team player, self-starter, quick learner, the ability to plan/coordinate multiple projects to meet deadlines and be comfortable with GAAP, GAGAS, risk assessment, etc. Previous experience in some of the above stated specialized skills is highly desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position will report to a Financial Manager within the County Auditor’s Office. Travis County is a $500 million local government organization with approximately 6,000 employees. Examples of duties

The duties of this position may include:

• Conduct risk assessments of federal grant sub-recipients.
• Monitor and track sub-recipient grants for compliance and allowable costs.
• Conduct compliance audits of grants.
• Review invoices received from grant holders for completeness and contract compliance.
• Write a sub-recipient audit report for each audit conducted, and ensure sub-recipients take all required corrective action in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Identify potential areas of non-compliance, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement for sub-recipients and recommend solutions.
• Assist with regulatory and compliance trainings as needed.
• Other: Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Supplemental information

Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, client/customer contact, and squatting to perform the essential functions.

Travis County employees play an important role in business continuity. As such, employees can be assigned to business continuity efforts outside of normal job functions.
