JOB OVERVIEW

The Sales & Events Manager is a base-salary plus commission position, responsible for driving group sales and event bookings by proactively selling B&B Theatres spaces and experience, including movies, bowling, dining, and entertainment. This role serves as the lead generator and relationship builder for the venue, converting opportunities into confirmed bookings and ensuring seamless execution through clear communication with the operations team. This position is sales-focused and relationship-driven, not execution-based. Success is measured by new business development, conversion rates, client satisfaction, and overall event revenue generated for the venue.

Hours: 40+ hours a week, working nights, weekends and holidays is a requirement; hours may vary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales & Business Development

  • Actively sell parties, corporate events, buyouts, and group experiences across all venue offerings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, nonprofits, and
  • community partners.
  • Conduct proactive outbound sales efforts including:
  • Cold calls and follow-up outreach
  • Site visits and venue tours
  • Chamber of Commerce engagement
  • Community events and networking opportunities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all inbound event inquiries.
  • Convert qualified inquiries into confirmed bookings and cultivate repeat business.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual event revenue targets.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary client contact from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up
  • Understand client needs, event goals, and budget constraints
  • Guide clients through B&B offerings and recommend the best-fit experience
  • Clearly communicate pricing, packages, policies, and next steps
  • Set accurate expectations and ensure client satisfaction throughout the booking process
  • Follow up after events to ensure guest satisfaction and secure repeat business

Event Communication & Coordination

  • Own the event communication process from booking through execution
  • Prepare and distribute a complete event brief (BEO/event summary) to all relevant
  • departments
  • Ensure all departments receive critical information needed for execution, including:
  • Event overview and client expectations
  • Attendance estimates and group composition
  • Food & beverage selections and special requests
  • Timing, setup needs, and AV requirements
  • Partner closely with the General Manager and department leaders to align on execution
  • Be present during key events and check in with clients when on-site
  • Remain available for support, clarification, or issue resolution as needed

Organization, Systems & Accountability

  • Maintain a structured system to track:
  • Incoming inquiries and lead sources
  • Sales pipeline status and conversion rates
  • Confirmed bookings and revenue generated
  • Client touchpoints and follow-up activities
  • Ensure contracts, deposits, and approvals are completed accurately and on time
  • Provide regular reporting on:
  • Weekly sales activity and pipeline health
  • Monthly revenue performance and trends
  • Opportunities, wins, and areas for improvement

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Marketing, F&B, and Corporate teams to:
  • Improve lead quality and inquiry flow
  • Identify trends and growth opportunities
  • Support consistency in sales messaging and guest experience standards
  • Share feedback and learnings to continuously improve the events program
  • Capture photos and content at events and activations to support B&B’s social media presence and marketing efforts
  • Support B&B promotional events such as the Kid’s New Year’s Eve Party, ensure strong attendance, guest experience, and on-site coordination
  • Support B&B venue activations such as Quiz Night and Bingo, assisting with promotion, on-site presence, and guest engagement to drive repeat visitation

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in proactive sales, business development, or hospitality management, preferably in a high-volume cinema or family entertainment center environment.
  • Strong background in building and maintaining professional relationships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in outbound lead generation, cold calling, and meeting or exceeding monthly and annual revenue targets
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, specifically with a focus on strategic marketing, business sales, or professional communications.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or otherwise meet the minimum legal age requirements to supervise, sell, and serve alcoholic beverages in the state of employment.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must maintain personal automobile liability insurance in accordance with applicable state minimum requirements and be able to use a personal vehicle for business related travel as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the needs of a 365-day entertainment operation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient usage of CRM tools, spreadsheets, and event tracking systems.
  • Ability to operate computer systems and CRM software for extended periods to manage high-volume event data.
  • Communicating clearly via telephone and in person for sales negotiations and venue tours.
  • Ability to resolve client issues and adjusting event plans in real-time to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to accurately calculate event costs, process deposits, and review financial reports to ensure revenue is attributed accurately.
  • Capacity to prioritize high-volume inbound leads while maintaining proactive outbound sales activity and follow-up schedules.
  • Must be willing and able to perform alcohol service duties as an essential function of the position, unless reasonable accommodation is required by law.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent travel by car for community networking, Chamber of Commerce engagement, and outbound sales calls.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for long durations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting site tours, overseeing event handoffs, or navigating various theatre facilities.
  • Capability to work in varied environments, from quiet office settings to loud, high energy theatre lobbies and event spaces during site visits.
  • Close visual acuity is required to prepare and analyze data, contracts, and digital spreadsheets across multiple monitors or devices.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of marketing materials, event signage, or promotional items (up to 25 lbs.) when visiting sites or attending community networking events.

The Beginning

B&B Theatres stands for Bills and Bagby, two families that both launched movie theatres and joined forces-for business and love-in 1980.

The history of B&B stretches back to 1924 when Elmer Bills, Sr., bought the Lyric Theatre in Salisbury, MO, and founded Bills Theatres. It was there that he met his future wife, Johnnie, while she played the piano along with the silent movies. Years later, their son Elmer Bills, Jr., was born into the business.

In 1936, the elder Elmer hired 10-year-old Sterling Bagby as a concession clerk. Sterling grew up, fought in World War II and came home to marry his Higbee, MO ticket seller, Pauline. Together, they started the Bagby Traveling Picture Show and roamed rural Missouri with their films, projection equipment, seats and snack bar. The Bagby Traveling Picture Show screened movies in barns, schools and parks. Eventually, Sterling and Pauline's company evolved into a Kansas circuit of drive-in theatres and "hardtops" (their nickname for indoor theatres).

Meanwhile, young Elmer Bills, Jr. had met his wife-to-be, Amy, when both were 13 (he lovingly refers to her as "the best popcorn girl I ever hired") and gone on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1959. Elmer and Amy joined his parents Elmer Sr. and Johnnie and continued the expansion of Bills Theatres, Inc.
