Job Description

Position Objective In this job the team member will lead the companywide efforts to minimize grain quality issues, maximize grain mix and blend revenue and minimize grain shrink and other inventory issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Grain Quality

  • Establish and ensure execution of process for grain quality monitoring
  • Maintain companywide inventory of grain quality
  • Train employees in grain grading and other related areas

Mix and Blend

  • Develop and execute process to track and report mix and blend results
  • Identify opportunities in collaboration with merchandising and operations
  • Collaborate with merchandising to establish grain discount scales and drying charges
  • Establish and communicate quality goals for rail and truck shipments

Inventory

  • Ensure monthly measurements are completed and differences investigated
  • Establish and implement process to ensure accuracy of scales and testing equipment
  • Establish, implement and maintain proper security and internal controls

Other

  • Know and follow all company safety policies/procedures. Perform work in a safe manner wile observing all traffic laws and all OSHA state and federal safety regulations.
  • Be a champion of safety, especially as it relates to grain related areas (bin entry, etc.)
  • Represent yourself and CFS professionally at all times in action and appearance.
  • Make decisions and follow instructions with little or no supervision.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or management

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years grain operations experience with grain quality responsibilities.
  • Basic grain marketing/merchandising experience.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office products, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of Agvantage grain accounting system
  • Strong conceptual strength, able to identify opportunities from large amounts of data
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and follow through
  • Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Working Environment: Employee will be subject to external elements, temperature extremes, heights, confined spaces, and other variable and unique environments.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders and stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, work around moving equipment and be exposed to the elements. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to sense and identify odors and ability to distinguish colors. Ability to work at computer for extended periods.
