The Role

Are you ready to take on a hands-on role that makes a real impact in WA’s grain industry? We’re looking for dedicated Grain Protection Officers to join our Esperance team, on a full-time basis.

In this frontline role, you’ll play a key part in carrying out and overseeing grain protection and fumigation activities across the region. No prior experience or licences in fumigation or pesticide application are required — CBH provides full training and support to help you gain the skills and certifications needed to succeed.

Roster Monday to Friday (40 hours) with additional overtime during our peak periods

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out grain fumigations following relevant procedures
  • Assist to maintain the life of phosphine, recognise and respond to possible contaminations from insects, rodents, birds and other external threats to reduce or remove the risk in the area
  • Report on pesticide stock and fumigation activities including weed control programs, wash-down programs, the implementation of rodent and feral bird control programs, and storage integrity checks
  • Assist Grain Technology in verifying activities to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, standards and codes of practices
  • Assist with Receival Points Operator duties, including receiving, storing and outloading grain, in addition to operating and maintaining storage facilities in an efficient and hygienic manner

About you:

  • A strong dedication towards prioritising safety
  • Willingness to learn to become fully licenced in all aspects of Grain Protection
  • Willingness to become an expert in Fumigation including Dangerous Goods Management and Pesticide safety activities.
  • A high degree attention to detail
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (MR/ HR licence advantageous)
