Trainee technician specialising in power (mechanical & electrical) with additional training in temperature control (HVAC) systems, for a 18-month training contract with the potential for permanent position and career path upon completion.

Detailed description:The trainee technician will embark on a comprehensive 18-month development programme primarily focused on mechanical & electrical systems. This programme will cover maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of power generators and other equipment, both within our depots and on-sites across the Middle East.

Upon successful programme completion, trainees will transition into a Technician level 1 role in Aggreko. Aggreko is committed to nurturing the technicians of the future, offering successful candidates the opportunity to gain in-depth electrical & mechanical expertise and hands-on experience across the region. The intention is to prepare successful trainees for future roles as senior technicians with proficiency in multiple areas of power generation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in classroom and hands-on training to gain practical experience in maintaining and servicing generators/related equipment.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of power generator electronics and mechanics, including maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist senior technicians in maintenance, commissioning and repair tasks, actively participating in resolving generator breakdowns in various locations.
  • Maintain detailed records of training progress, service reports, and equipment inspections to ensure accountability and compliance.
  • Strictly follow Aggreko’s QHSE and safety protocols at all times.

Key performance indicators

  • Successful completion of the 18-month training programme and completion of logbook.
  • Ability to independently perform all maintenance, troubleshooting and fixing tasks that would be expected of a technician by the end of the development programme.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of mechanical & electrical systems and related equipment.
  • Consistently adhering to safety and compliance standards and policies.
  • Maintain high standards, a positive attitude and commitment throughout the training programme.

LocationUAE & Bahrain with short placements to depots across the region.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Able and willing to travel as required.
  • Valid driving license (local or international) or willing to learn 
  • Business level English
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude to work.

Benefits: 25 days’ Annual Leave, Medical Insurance, 14 days’ sick leave as per UAE law.
