The University of Washington Information School is seeking a UW iSchool MLIS or MA-Museology student to provide programmatic and research support for CALMA –The Center for Advances in Libraries, Museums, and Archives.

The GRA will work with CALMA staff and faculty leaders to support Center programs, outreach, communication, and research activities. The GRA will interact with the growing CALMA community of faculty, research scientists, students, staff, and practitioners in the field, including those at UW Libraries and UW-affiliated museums. This position will help to forge connections across library and information science, archival studies, and museology disciplines; and between research, education, and practice.

The GRA will perform some or all of the responsibilities listed below for an average of 10 hours per week over the course of the academic year.

  • Support design of CALMA programs and events, such as speaker panels, workshops, round table discussions, and guest presentations
  • Provide on-site logistical support for in-person CALMA events
  • Coordinate with faculty members and student leaders to raise awareness of CALMA events and programs to graduate student body, including classroom visits, posts to student communication channels, attendance at student events
  • Bring Masters students’ ideas, interests, and feedback to CALMA
  • Develop and write articles on LIS, archival studies, and museology research and scholarship for the CALMA website
  • Assist with website maintenance and updating content as needed
  • Co-design content for CALMA social media
  • Support CALMA’s participation in iSchool research projects as needed, such as summarizing meeting recordings and notes
  • Provide administrative support for CALMA operations and executive functions
  • Other duties as needed

Compensation:
This role will pay at least $2,604.50 per month, per the Graduate School's salary schedule Questions regarding pay should be directed to iSchool Human Resources at ihrhelp@uw.edu

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Residential UW iSchool MLIS or Museology student for the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Enrolled full-time (10 credits) during each quarter of appointment
  • Skilled in writing articles, informational blog posts, new stories, meeting summaries, social media posts
  • Excellent in-person and online communication and interpersonal skills, for a diversity of people, groups, and situations
  • Able to commit to and follow through to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience in a library, archive or museum
  • Understanding of people-centered program design
  • Familiarity with WordPress authoring environment
  • Graphic design and/or other creative skills
