He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Planning Graduate Programme offers rotations across a range of Auckland Council planning functions, giving you exposure to diverse teams and real-world projects that influence how Auckland grows and develops. You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team where you’ll gain exposure to real-world planning projects and learn from experienced professionals.

Your Rotations

Your rotations may include experience in areas such as:

• Policy development and implementation
• Resource consents
• Environmental Monitoring
• Supporting projects that shape Auckland’s built and natural environment

Programme start date: Monday, 15th February 2027

You’re curious, motivated, and passionate about making Auckland a better place to live. You enjoy problem-solving, working with others, and are keen to learn in a fast-paced, public-sector environment.

We welcome applications from graduates with qualifications in:

• Urban Planning
• Environmental Planning

You must have:

• A minimum of a relevant Bachelor’s degree
• Eligibility to work in Aotearoa New Zealand for more than 4 years without sponsorship
• A valid NZ Restricted Driver Licence, with the ability to obtain a Full Licence by 2027
• One example of your own written work (e.g. essay, report, or academic writing)
