About the role

As a Graduate Officer you will undertake a range of financial management tasks related to accounting, budgeting and financial and statistical reporting while completing post-graduate accounting studies. You will develop your existing accounting and financial analysis skills while rotating through finance-related functions over a two-year period.

You will

• Support the planning, development, and implementation of accounting, budgeting, and financial/statistical reporting processes.
• Contribute to the development of financial and budget management policies and strategies through sound judgement and analytical capability.
• Assist in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of financial and budget management systems and related interfaces.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight

Period of appointment

Two years

Pre-employment requirements

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment.

• dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud)

• false alarm raising.

Essential requirements

• A recent degree with a major in accounting that enables the applicant to complete the Certified Practising Accountant Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand postgraduate program.

Desirable requirements

• Successful applicants for this position will hold a recent degree with a major in accounting that enables direct entry into postgraduate accounting studies with CPA Australia or CA ANZ.
