
Batten University, a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for a Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. Batten University is located in Virginia Beach, VA, and sponsors 24 varsity sports teams, supporting almost 500 student-athletes.
The qualified applicant will report to the Director of Athletic Communications. The individual will supports the promotion and visibility of the University's intercollegiate athletic programs through strategic communications, digital media, and event coverage. This position assists with creating and managing athletic content for the website and social media platforms, writing news releases and game recaps, maintaining statistics and historical records, coordinating photography and multimedia content, and supporting game-day operations. The Graduate Intern will collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, and campus partners to enhance the University's athletic brand while gaining practical experience in collegiate athletic communications. Strong written communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic events are essential.
Review of applications will begin immediately. This is a graduate assistant position. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Tuition remission for graduate programs is included as well as a stipend. Preference will be given to applicants with collegiate athletic experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the college’s auto insurance carrier.
