Our Ministerial Offices are looking for a graduate or early-career communications professional who is interested in how people consume news, politics and public information across traditional, social and emerging media.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you will develop broad skills in media writing, speech and briefing support, short-form video production, social media content and audience-focused storytelling.
With guidance and support, you will help draft and coordinate communications including media releases, ministerial quotes, speeches, talking points, briefs and digital content. Digital channels—including Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and emerging platforms—will remain a significant part of the role.
You will learn to identify communication opportunities, research issues and translate complex policy into clear, accurate and engaging content tailored to journalists, stakeholders, event audiences and online communities.
Working closely with Ministers, media teams and policy advisers, you will contribute ideas and prepare communications supporting announcements, media enquiries, interviews, speeches, events and broader government priorities.
You do not need to be an expert on day one. We are looking for strong writing potential, initiative, sound judgement and a genuine interest in broad communications and media. An enthusiasm for digital formats—including direct-to-camera video, creator-style storytelling and authentic online engagement—is also important.
