Job Description

Introduction

Variety and the need for agility invigorates life here at Cambridge Consultants. Each day brings fresh challenges as we collaborate to solve pressing global problems and help shape the future of smart homes, connected therapeutic devices, wireless robot networks, and intelligent AI agents that interact seamlessly with cloud infrastructure.

If you enjoy taking ownership of your work though also value collaboration with supportive and passionate colleagues, our Software Engineer role will suit you well!  You’ll be surrounded by respected leaders in the very latest technologies as you help evolve our software development for distributed cloud-based systems and rich UIs.

Successful candidates can join us between May-October 2026.

There is no deadline for this role, as we recruit on a rolling basis. Once the position is filled, we will close the advert. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Your role

As a software engineer, you will work on a broad variety of projects. For some projects, the software will be the entire project; for others, it will be one component of a broader ecosystem involving software and hardware developed at CC or by our clients. We are looking for adaptable individuals who thrive on challenges and enjoy learning on the job.

You’ll share your days with talented teams of software engineers, UX and service designers, mathematicians, test engineers and DevOps specialists. Your primary focus will be delivering creative, impactful solutions for ambitious, world-renowned clients who are committed to making a difference in people's lives. Often you’ll be developing systems that haven’t been seen before and where the specification can at first be unclear. Working with our team you’ll be able to cut through the fog and deliver solutions for our clients.

We have a team ‘share-what-you-learn’ ethic so we can plan, grow and succeed together. You’ll play an active role in helping to grow our team and our capability. There is no single technology stack, as we will use whatever tool best fits each project including generative AI, but you can expect to encounter AWS, Azure and Google Cloud; Typescript, Go, Java, C#, Python; LangChain, TensorFlow and BMad; ElasticSearch, Terraform and Gitlab CI.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with our team to deliver top-notch digital services that help our clients achieve their goals
  • Design and build software for scalable, secure and observable cloud deployments
  • Develop and deploy AI agents and services that leverage cloud-native architectures
  • Keep learning and be vocal about the latest trends in technology and how they might be used to solve real-world problems for our clients

What you’ll experience while you’re with us

As part of your journey here and to support your growth, you’ll have access to

  • A variety of projects across multiple industries, keeping your day-to-day both diverse and engaging

  • A mentoring and training package shaped around your ambitions, helping you grow exactly where you want to

  • The freedom to pick the tools and processes that make sense for your craft.
  • Plenty of opportunities to have fun and build meaningful connections with colleagues along the way

What you can bring

We’re looking for applications who:

  • Are currently pursuing, or have already completed, a relevant degree, such as computer science or software engineering, with good academic results.
  • Have good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and clients to understand their challenges and present thoughtful solutions.
  • Have a strong interest in the latest technology trends and eagerness to learn.
  • Can demonstrate experience using cloud technologies, or a keen interest in the field.
  • Have practical programming experience.
