STATUS: PART-TIME, EXEMPT
Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH, invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant, Business Office. The Graduate Assistant, Business Office will provide a presence in the cashier’s office by assisting students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors, while learning and assisting the business office. This is a 12-month appointment, each year, for two consecutive years, pending successful evaluation at the end of year one.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the billing of student and special accounts, third party, and Equestrian Center.
- Analyzes and handles account inquiries; explains the actual financial aid impact on accounts to students and parents.
- Assists with student refunds and prepare the requests for payment.
- Learns and assists the Accounts Payable Purchase Order (PO) system.
- Assists the Bursar with the institutional loan and collection accounts.
- Assists with the coordinating, preparing and entering journal entries.
- Prepares and assists in the analysis, reconciliation and preparation of various schedules and general ledger accounts for month-end, quarter-end, year-end closes, and annual audit preparation.
- Follows all terms and conditions per the Policy for Graduate Assistants.
- Other duties as assigned by Bursar.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, entrepreneur, or other related fields.
- Acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.
- Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Committed to confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity.
- Strong organization skills with ability to attend to details.
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as across academic and administrative departments.
