Job Description

Graduate Arboricultural Consultant – Manchester, London & Birmingham

About Tyler Grange

At TG we value innovation over convention; the usual route isn’t always our chosen path. We care deeply and celebrate loudly, and our Tribe supports each other through work and play. Every day here blends meaningful work, good laughs and honest conversations

We also believe in giving back and offer a 4day working week on a 5day salary – that’s 80% of your time for 100% pay

Your journey at TG will be shaped by the amazing people you’ll work alongside. We cheer on our mates, cherish our clients, and sprinkle goodness back into our communities. If you’re looking for a place where people genuinely enjoy what they do - and who they do it with - there’s no better place to start your arboricultural career.

We’re excited to welcome three new Graduate Arboricultural Consultants to join our Tribe in June 2026, across our Manchester, London and Birmingham offices.

What you’ll be doing

As a Graduate Arboricultural Consultant, you’ll learn how to deliver arboricultural advice and planning support across a wide variety of projects - from residential and commercial developments to renewables, estate management and infrastructure.

With full support from the Arboriculture team and wider TG disciplines, you’ll:

  • Conduct tree surveys to BS5837:2012

  • Complete tree risk-benefit assessment in line with our VALID methodology

  • Prepare robust tree survey findings that will form the foundation of our assessment work

  • Support the preparation of arboricultural planning documents including Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Method Statements and statutory tree works applications

  • Learn how to provide technical solutions for development design while enhancing and protecting the local environment

  • Navigate planning policy, online datasets, captured survey data and technical drawings

  • Gain experience using tools such as AutoCAD, QGIS and survey-collation software

  • Work alongside ecologists, landscape architects and GBI colleagues

  • Attend project meetings with clients, developers and planning authorities

  • Travel across the UK for surveys, internal events, volunteering days and project work

  • Participate in TG-wide initiatives, including quarterly company gatherings

You’ll also join our structured learning programme, designed to boost your confidence, technical knowledge and project skills - helping you progress from Graduate to Consultant level.

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and excited to learn. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy being outdoors, collaborating with a supportive team and getting stuck into each new challenge.

You’ll ideally have:

  • An academic qualification in arboriculture or a similar environmental discipline (Level 3+). A Level 6 qualification in arboriculture is highly desirable.

  • Awareness of BS5837:2012 and interest in arboriculture within the UK planning system

  • Curiosity and willingness to build technical understanding

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good organisational and time management abilities

  • Confidence working independently or as part of a wider multidisciplinary team

  • A full UK driving licence (with business insurance), as site visits often occur in remote locations

  • Alignment with our values: Caring, Honesty, Opportunity, Enjoyment, Belonging

  • Willingness to spend 3 days a week in the office during your first 2 months, then 2 days per week thereafter

You must have permanent right to work in the UK.

Salary: £26,410 per annum (plus London uplift where applicable)

Our pay bands are transparent and reviewed annually.

Location: Manchester, London or Birmingham
Hybrid working - typically 2 days per week in the office, including onsite days.

Start date: June 2026
