The Graduate Admissions Manager is part of a highly collaborative team and will work closely with the Director of Student Services, Recruitment and Engagement Specialist, and MPAL Program Manager to develop and implement strategic recruitment, admissions, and orientation plans to grow and support enrollment of graduate students at Ohio State’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Additionally, the Graduate Admissions Manager will serve as the academic advisor for a portion of Glenn College graduate students.

The dynamic professional in this position leads the admissions and yield efforts for the College’s in-person graduate programs and develops and executes recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment goals. The Graduate Admissions Manager plans and supervises the scheduling and implementation of events such as orientation, graduate visitation days and campus visits, and may represent the college at recruitment fairs, class visits, and information sessions at various colleges and universities. This individual acts as a liaison with student ambassador groups and organizations inquiring about programs, and provides regular communication to admitted students regarding policies, procedures, important information, deadlines, events, etc. The incumbent coordinates the selection process for Graduate Fellowship competitions, in collaboration with the Director of Doctoral Studies, and other merit based financial aid, and develops and coordinates the orientation and integration of new graduate students into the program. This position provides content for the graduate programs sections of the college website, acts as a liaison between the Glenn College and relevant University and external stakeholders, and is responsible for compiling and reporting of graduate student data. This individual represents the Glenn College at relevant internal and external meetings and events as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

Leads admissions processing for all Glenn College graduate programs, including the doctoral program, interfacing with offices including Graduate Admissions, the Graduate School, and Ohio State Online as appropriate. Uses college admissions system in Microsoft Lists to track applicants and send to faculty reviewers. Serves on college committees related to student recruitment, admissions, and curriculum. Liaises with graduate and doctoral studies faculty chairs regarding enrollment goals and program admissions. Provides content for graduate programs sections of the College’s website. Helps maintain academic program guides and handbooks for graduate programs; participates in relevant advising policy decisions including delivery of and scheduling for master’s capstone courses; coordinates/assists with graduation process; assists with planning and execution of College’s annual pre-commencement ceremonies.

Assists with recruitment and leads yield efforts for all in-person College graduate curricular programs, including Washington, DC programs. Corresponds with admitted graduate students via email and tracks interactions in SalesForce. Develops and executes recruitment and yield strategies with faculty and student services team to achieve enrollment goals. Leads yield and on-boarding efforts for admitted in-person master’s students, including fellowship and scholarship allocation process. Plans and manages visit day and orientation programs and oversees integration of new graduate students into the program. May represent the College at recruitment fairs, class visits, and in-person or online information sessions. Assists in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses related to graduate recruitment, yield, and on-boarding. May travel throughout Ohio and the US for recruitment activities as needed.

Serves as the academic advisor for students pursuing the In-Career MA degree, Dual Degree programs, graduate minors, and embedded certificates; assists with course selection and degree planning, updates students on academic policies and important dates, processes graduation applications, facilitates academic petition process as appropriate. Assists with providing regular communication to students about relevant events, workshops, and scholarships.

Collects application, admissions, and enrollment data for College, University, and other reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Information: This position is primarily an in-person role with some opportunities for remote and hybrid work. It may also require occasional local and out-of-state travel, and working evenings and weekends, as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and experience; 2 years of experience recruiting and advising in an academic setting; excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree in Public Administration, Higher Education, or a related field; 2-4 years of experience in program planning and administration; demonstrated interest in government and public policy as well as knowledge of career fields; proficiency with Microsoft 365 software, including Excel, Lists, One Note, and Power Automate.

The rate of pay for this position will be $22.93/hour to $29.95/hour to be determined by internal equity, budget, and the candidate's education and experience.

Please note this position follows a hybrid work model, typically requiring 3–5 days per week in the office, with flexibility depending on role and team needs.
