Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered Grades K–6 Paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and student success. Working under the supervision of the classroom teacher and Assistant Director, the Paraprofessional assists with instructional and classroom management responsibilities while helping to maintain a structured, engaging, and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in establishing and maintaining a structured, organized, and productive learning environment.
  • Support classroom management by reinforcing school-wide behavioral expectations and routines.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce instruction in reading, mathematics, writing, spelling, reasoning, and other academic subjects.
  • Monitor student understanding and provide targeted instructional support to promote academic growth.
  • Encourage student engagement by reinforcing appropriate learning behaviors and maintaining student focus during instruction.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, organization of instructional materials, and daily classroom routines.
  • Check, record, and organize student work as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Assist students in reviewing assignments, correcting errors, and strengthening understanding of classroom concepts.
  • Support the administration of classroom assessments, checkouts, progress monitoring, and reteaching activities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student work completion and classroom behavior as requested.
  • Assist with school supervision duties, including morning arrival, lunch/recess, and afternoon dismissal.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and required school events, including Back-to-School Night and other designated evening programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote student success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, Assistant Director, or school administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students of varying academic abilities and learning needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a structured, student-centered learning environment.
  • Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) requirements within one year of employment, if applicable.
