Position Summary

Planning, Sustainability and Project Management (PSPM) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Hourly (GH) employee for Campus Architecture and Learning Environments (CALE) who will update the existing standards, collaborate on campus architecture, learning environment and signage projects, and maintain CALE's learning space database and oasis (student lounge) website. The position is for up to 20 hours per week from September to December 2026. Work hours from week to week may be variable. There is an opportunity to potentially work 20 hours per week in Spring Semester 2027. This position is open to students with an F1 visa. The pay for this position is $31.03/hour. The position is a great opportunity for students to work with licensed architects on meaningful projects and acquire professional experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Collaborate with CALE team to update the existing standards published on PSPM’s website

Prepare and deliver graphics in support of the university’s mission and design standards

Maintain and update the learning space database and oasis (lounge) website

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled at UIC in a graduate program, either in the Master of Architecture or Master of Project Management program
• Prior experience in architecture (buildings), such as an undergraduate degree in architecture or one year of a 2-year Master of Architecture program, is required
• Prior experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is a must
• Resourceful self-starter, with an excellent academic track record, who can work independently
• Applicants without architecture (buildings) experience will not be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in data collection/organization and field investigations of campus spaces including learning environments, grounds, and interior public spaces
• Experience with Revit/BIM, Rhino or SketchUp, and rendering software (VRay or Lumion)
• First year graduate student in a two-year program or second year graduate student in a three-year program
