Government Relations Officer

About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Doha within the People & Culture Department in Doha, the Government Relations Officer will primarily carry out all activities in support of the human resources function in the hotel which includes: planning, and obtaining all required block visa allocations, individual work visas and the process for resident visas, assisting with Guest Visa requirements, and other required mandatory certifications. The Government Relations Office reports to the Director of People & Culture.

AsGovernment Relations Officer,you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Be up to date regarding any changes or amendments to the prevailing laws/rule / regulations, changes in forms/formats and other procedures and keep the Human Resources Department advised of such changes.
• Process all types of visas including employment visas, residence visas for colleagues as well as business and other visas for guests / entertainers or other hotel requirements
• Advising on any visa restrictions that may apply and updating the management on same.
• Process the medical check, occupational health cards and Qatar ID.
• Assist Colleagues in renewing visas for their immediate dependents whenever needed.
• Ensure that E-Contracts are attested for all new joiners.
• Submit relevant documents periodically to Immigration or the Labour office with regard to cancelled / absconding colleagues and delete from the hotel’s sponsorship list.
• Ensure that all documents are scanned and properly filed on the hotel data base.
• Update the Recruitment plan as Visas are applied for and received.
• Send out notifications to the concerned departments to prepare the required documents to renew hotel licenses.
• Process and renewal of permits and licenses including hotel trade license, liquor trading license, certificates of registration, civil defense certificate for the hotel, Yearly planned Event licenses such as Ramadan and New Year, etc.
• Process and renew of Events permits through the appropriate channel such as Qatar Tourism Authority, Ministry of Interior or Culture or other relevant ministry.

As Government Relations Officer, we expect from you:

• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a 5-star hotel environment preferred
• Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar or related administrative role
• Vocational Diploma in Hospitality Operations or Human Resources
• Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management or Human Resources
