Government Operations Consultant II

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in contract administration, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and contracts. The Contract Manager will work closely with program leads and may eventually assume broader responsibilities, including supervisory duties, as the office evolves.

  • Support the management of contracts currently overseen by senior staff, including tracking deadlines, deliverables, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate with vendors, legal, and finance teams to ensure contract compliance and timely execution
  • Maintain organized documentation for audits, reporting, and internal reviews
  • Assist in drafting scopes of work, reviewing proposals, and supporting procurement processes
  • Serve as a liaison between program managers and contractors to ensure clear communication and issue resolution
  • Contribute to process improvements and standard operating procedures related to contract management
  • Potentially assume supervisory responsibilities or transition into a broader program management role
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Excel, word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and partners
  • Familiarity with state procurement laws, contract lifecycle management, and public sector compliance
  • Understanding of economic development or small business support programs is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for internal and external coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management systems
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and competing deadlines with accuracy
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Must complete the Florida Certified Contract Manager Certification Training within 12 months of appointment.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Travel may be required up to 25% of the time

Preferred

  • Experience supporting or managing contracts in a government environment
  • Familiar with state procurement processes
  • Prior work involving vendor coordination, contract documentation, or performance monitoring
  • Experience using contract management systems, procurement portals, or similar tools
  • Exposure to economic development or public-sector programs
  • Experience collaborating with legal, finance, or programming teams on contract-related issues

Pay:

$45,000.00 – $55,000.00 Annually

The Work You Will Do:

The Contract Manager, Program Support will play a vital role in strengthening the operational capacity of the Office of Small Business Innovation by supporting the management of contracts tied to key small business programs. This individual will assist in overseeing vendor agreements, tracking deliverables, and ensuring compliance with state procurement and reporting requirements. As the office continues to expand its portfolio, this role will help maintain continuity and improve contract execution timelines.
