The Government Account Executive is responsible for long-term relationship development and account strategy across assigned government agencies. This role focuses on shaping demand, influencing research and development (R&D) priorities, and positioning EPRI for future funding opportunities across all sectors.

The Government Account Executive leads agency engagement strategies, develops multi-year growth plans, and serves as the primary interface between government customers and internal technical teams. The role facilitates early-stage interactions, gathers market and customer intelligence, influences solicitations prior to release, and identifies upcoming opportunities (12–36 months out). The Government Account Executive collaborates closely with Capture Leads by informing opportunity and proposal strategies but does not own proposal execution.

The role is also responsible for facilitating responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), white papers, and concept papers in coordination with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary relationship owner and strategic point of contact for assigned government agencies.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive account and growth strategies aligned with organizational and sector objectives.
  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, partners, and business development contacts within assigned agencies.
  • Identifies, qualifies, and tracks upcoming funding opportunities and solicitation pipelines spanning 12–36 months.
  • Gathers and disseminates customer, market, and competitive intelligence to inform capture and proposal strategies.
  • Influences solicitations prior to release by engaging with agencies on technical priorities, program design, and alignment with mission needs.
  • Facilitates and coordinates RFI, white paper, and concept paper responses, working with technical staff and Capture Leads as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with Capture Leads to transition qualified opportunities into active capture, providing account context, customer insights, and strategic positioning.
  • Coordinates and facilitates interactions between government customers and internal technical, sector, and leadership teams.
  • Represents the organization at agency meetings, industry days, conferences, and networking events.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or equivalent required.
  • Broad knowledge of the electricity and energy industry with 7+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with U.S. government agencies (federal, defense, or state) in business development, program engagement, or industrial liaison roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in account management, relationship development, or consultative sales.
  • Familiarity with government R&D funding mechanisms and solicitation processes.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 50%.

The salary range for this position is $160,000 USD to $180,000 USD annually.This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
