JOB TITLE: Golf Mower

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt – Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Golf

SUPERVISOR: Golf Course Foreman or Manager

SALARY: $14-$17 Per Hour

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Perform a variety of unskilled labor in the routine maintenance and service activities related to City golf courses.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform unskilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance and related services related to the City of Cheyenne golf courses.
  • Operate pneumatic and hand tools; operate equipment and trucks; clean and maintain equipment.
  • Compile and mix materials to be used on job assignments.
  • Maintain records and log of all work performed.
  • Pick up trash and debris from golf course grounds.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Perform all grounds maintenance related activities for City golf courses including but not limited to mowing turf, trimming, planting shrubs, trees, and flowers, trimming trees, shrubs, and flowers, laying sod; irrigating turf, trees, shrubs and flowers, pest control, seeding turf areas, cleaning, and preparing landscape beds, cleaning shops and other course buildings, daily golf course set-up.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic methods and techniques of general construction, maintenance, and repair.
  • Knowledge of basic equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Skills to operate power equipment used in grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to perform moderate manual labor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to learn to operate a vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safely and effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Required:

Formal or informal education, training, or experience which ensures the ability for successful job performance. Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

Working Environment

Field environment working with machinery, working closely with others, exposure to noise, slippery, uneven surfaces, moving objects, moving vehicles, electric energy, dust, toxic chemicals, and inclement weather conditions.
