Job Description

The Golf Maintenance Facility Technician assists in all Engineering Operations of all Big Cedar Golf buildings and facilities. The Technician assists in equipment repair, performs physical active work, carpentry, painting work, repairs, modification and preventive maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems. Installs, trouble-shoots, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of facility plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required maintenance such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter change. Assists in the moving of furniture, materials, and equipment. Assists in Golf Course cultural practices and operates heavy equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist co-workers when tasks require more than one team member to complete due to heavy lifting of equipment, repairing plumbing, or repairing any issue.
  • Paints equipment and machinery, using both latex and oil paint.
  • Lubricates and changes machinery filters and fan belts on various types of machinery, often while crouched over or on hands and knees.
  • Replace light bulbs including exterior ground lights, exterior roof lights, ceiling lights, wall lights and tree lights and clean fixtures throughout the property.
  • Performs basic plumbing repairs and cleans and executes preventative maintenance on sewer and drain lines, including snaking drains, sinks, toilets, and showers
  • Operates various heavy equipment and executes tasks with heavy equipment.
  • Minor carpentry, including repair and replacement of doors and windows
  • Welds, solders, silver solders and brazes to make necessary repairs
  • Performs masonry work, such as plastering, pouring cement, stucco, tile, and brickwork. Requires the ability to carry 50 lb. bags of cement, push a wheelbarrow loaded with cement and supplies, mix cement, and dry materials, and utilize grinders and tile saws as needed
  • Interacts with all guests in a professional matter that is consistent with Big Cedar Resorts standards and values
  • Complies with all Big Cedar Resorts safety and health policies.
  • Implements emergency actions as described in “Emergency Procedures Plan” and according to established departmental procedure.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Requires ability to lift heavy (100lbs) machinery and parts in awkward positions, including overhead, and ability to climb and perform repairs from ladders, bending, pushing pulling, crawling, balancing, and twisting – at times in low lighting
  • Carpentry & Framing: Repairing decks, installing trim, building shelves, and fixing wooden fences. Ability to complete builds from start to finish
  • Minor Plumbing: Replacing faucets, toilets, & urinals. Knowledge of pex & pvc plumbing. Understanding winterization
  • Basic Electrical: Swapping out light fixtures, installing ceiling fans, and replacing outlets or switches.
  • Drywall & Paint: Patching holes, texturing walls, mudding seams, and executing clean paint touch-ups
  • Exterior Maintenance: Cleaning gutters, power washing siding, and vinyl, replacing exterior panels
  • Flooring & Tiling: Replacing damaged floorboards, installing laminate flooring, installing tile, replacing deck boards, and hardware
  • Welding & Fabrication: Ability to create using steel & MIG & arc weld
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to safely and efficiently operate an excavator, skid steer, and forklift
  • Tool Fluency: Expertly utilizing circular saws, drills, multimeters, drywall knives, and specialized plumbing wrenches. Welders and cutting torches
  • Material Selection: Knowing exactly which anchors, screws, adhesives, or primers to use on different surfaces (e.g., drywall vs. concrete)
  • Accurate Estimating: Calculating the cost of materials and estimating the exact hours a job will take
  • Customer Service: Explaining complex repair issues clearly to leadership and prioritizing the guest experience
  • Time Management: Juggling multiple small projects at different locations within a single workday

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to poison ivy, oak and sumac, and must be able to work closely with these plants and possibly other toxic plant materials.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
