Job Description

All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

The Golf Course Supervisor works in conjunction with, and reports directly to, the Golf Course Superintendent. This is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for assisting with the execution of agronomic programs and the daily management of golf course maintenance operations.

Primary responsibilities include implementing approved agronomic plans; assisting with daily crew supervision, scheduling, and task delegation; calibrating and applying fertilizers and chemicals in accordance with safety and regulatory standards; and troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervises maintenance personnel by prioritizing and scheduling daily work assignments; determines appropriate manpower, equipment, and supply requirements to meet operational needs.

  • Performs inspections of turf to evaluate overall health, identify signs of dryness, disease, or pest damage, and communicates observations to the Golf Course Superintendent

  • Inspects, services, and performs routine maintenance and repairs on turf maintenance equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation

  • Operates turf maintenance equipment, including but not limited to mowers, tractors, vehicles, golf carts, chain saws, and gas-powered lawn equipment.

  • Performs planting, irrigation, fertilization, mulching, and general care of shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf areas; maintains accurate records related to chemical applications

  • Maintains the cleanliness, safety, and general condition of golf course grounds and facilities, including maintenance shops and other property areas, ensure accurate record documentation, and removes trash and debris as needed.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and performs routine maintenance on irrigation systems, including pump stations, valves, and sprinkler heads.

  • Plants, waters, fertilizes, mulches, and maintains shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf areas in accordance with established horticultural standards.

  • Assists with the application and calibration of fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides in compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines..

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

  • Operating turf maintenance equipment, irrigation systems, and pumphouses

  • Identifying turfgrass pests, diseases, and stress conditions

  • Applying fertilizers and chemical treatments accurately and safely

  • Assessing course playing conditions and turf quality

  • Supervising, training, and evaluating the work performance of personnel

  • Using basic office equipment and technology, including telephones, computers, and recordkeeping systems

  • Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and the general public

  • Providing courteous customer service and maintaining positive public relations

  • Following established policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED and three years' experience in area of assignment; in a related field and experience in area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Bachelors Degree

Knowledge of supervisory principles; experience in irrigation troubleshooting and repair; knowledge of the game and the rules of golf. Valid Kansas Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Positions in this class typical require: Reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

  • Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.

  • Medium Work: Exertingupto50poundsofforceoccasionally,and/orupto20poundsofforce frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Salary Range:

$20.31-$25.86/hr.
