About the role

We are seeking an experienced Gold Room Operator to join the processing team at the Mt Carlton Gold Mine as the site transitions into steady-state operations.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with previous gold room and processing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment. You will be actively involved in day-to-day gold room activities including smelting, furnace operations and monitoring recovery processes. You will work closely with Processing Operators, Metallurgists, and Laboratory personnel to support plant performance, optimise gold recoveries, and ensure operational targets are achieved.

This role will be offered on a Max Term Full Time Contract and will see you work an 8/6 Dayshift Only roster. This position is BIBO from the Townsville region, with accommodation and meals supplied whilst onsite.

Duties will include but not be limited to:-

  • Perform daily Gold Room operations, including smelting, bullion pours, preparation of calcine and fluxes, reagent handling, and associated process activities.
  • Conduct routine sampling, monitoring, and inspections to support optimal plant performance and gold recovery.
  • Maintain accurate operational, production, and security records in line with site procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with Metallurgists and Processing personnel to support recovery targets and optimise plant performance.
  • Carry out routine housekeeping and maintain high cleanliness standards within the Gold Room and surrounding operational areas.

To be successful in this role, you will have:-

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating within a Gold Room, Process Plant, or Mineral Processing environment.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and other process control technologies.
  • Relevant tickets, qualifications, or certifications related to mineral processing or Gold Room operations will be highly regarded.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
  • Right to Work in Australia – Essential
