Job Description

Join our core development team this summer to revolutionize the agriculture industry by building high-impact guidance, navigation, and control systems.

What Makes This Role Great:

In this role, you will work on real-world automation for massive machinery, transforming how the world produces food through advanced sensor fusion and vehicle dynamics modeling in a high-energy, collaborative environment.

Move beyond theory by deploying and profiling algorithm performance on real-time hardware, giving you the unique opportunity to see your mathematical models drive actual agricultural vehicles in the field.

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and productize state estimation and control algorithms for autonomous vehicle steering.

  • Utilize Matlab/Simulink and model-based design to build complex navigation systems.

  • Apply sensor fusion and filter design, such as EKF and UKF, for precision odometry and pose estimation.

  • Develop and validate non-linear vehicle dynamics plant models to simulate real-world performance.

  • Collaborate with the core engineering team to define system architecture and foster product quality through rigorous testing.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in GNC algorithm development for dynamic physical systems or ground vehicles.

  • Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, C/C++, or Python.

  • Understanding of the C/C++ compilation process and algorithm validation.

  • Strong skills in data analysis and visualization.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in New Zealand.

Bonus Points For

  • Practical experience with agricultural machinery or GNSS+IMU based navigation.

  • Knowledge of HIL/SIL testing, machine learning concepts, or Robotics Toolboxes.

  • Pursuing an advanced degree in a related engineering field.
