
The Office of Student Engagement oversees community building programs, and seeks a student worker to support programming for commuter students. This position reports to the Associate Director for Recreation & Commuter Engagement. The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Recreation & Commuter Engagement, the Gnarls Mascot Representative will act as the university mascot and assist the mascot at various events throughout the academic year. In addition, it will support various other mascot related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a student officer on the Gnarls Squad Team, attending various on and off campus events hosted through Recreation or Student Affairs
Wear mascot suit and attend events as Gnarls.
Support the management of the Gnarls schedule and related communications
Staff events, meetings, and office hours in person.
Prepare for events and support in mascot suit transportation.
Process expense reports and purchases related to the Gnarls Squad events team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated commitment to community building and teamwork
Reliable, organized, and communicative
Able to manage a hybrid schedule and confirm weekly changes for event staffing
Must be able to work at least one weekend or evening event per month
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience as a mascot/mascot handler is preferred.
Prior experience working in an office or community building environment is preferred.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-DNI
SALARY RANGE
$20 / hour
