  • Location: Tauranga
  • Pay Range: $100K to $120K (depending on skills & experience)
  • Position Type: Permanent position / 40 hours per week

Are you passionate about food safety, quality systems, and auditing in the agricultural sector? We are looking for a qualified GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 QMS Auditor to join our dynamic team.

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced professional to play a vital role in auditing and certifying quality management systems, farm operations, and plant production businesses. The successful candidate will contribute to the continual improvement of quality systems and help ensure farms and food production sites meet the highest certification standards.

About the Role: 

The role involves undertaking a systematic and independent process of obtaining and objectively examining information to determine the degree of conformity with prescribed criteria. This includes evaluating processes, records and systems to ensure compliance with the defined standards and requirements of relevant programmes. As an approved QMS Auditor, you will assess farms and food operations to verify compliance with GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 certification requirements. You will evaluate processes, records and systems while developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to travel throughout Aotearoa New Zealand and work alongside growers and exporters within the horticulture sector, supporting them as they take their products to market.

The position is based in Tauranga, New Zealand, and requires regular travel throughout New Zealand. During peak season, the role may require travel and working away from home for up to two weeks per month.

This is a permanent, full-time position of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may occasionally be required during peak season.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct audits of Quality Management Systems and crop production systems to verify compliance with certification standards. 
  • Analyse records and processes to assess adherence to regulatory and food safety requirements. 
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely audit reports, manage non-conformances, and maintain audit records.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge in food safety, market standards, regulatory requirements, audit techniques and accreditation. 
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders. 
  • Support audit teams, training, programme development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and administrative processes.

Qualifications

Technical Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary diploma (2+ years) in horticulture, agricultural science, or a related field. 
  • At least 2 years' experience post-study in the agricultural industry (Crops). 
  • A total of 3 years' experience in agriculture-related work. 

OR 

  • Tertiary diploma (2+ years) in a food-related discipline. 
  • At least 4 years of practical experience in farm operations or technical production management (Crops). 

AND 

  • LEAD auditor training based on ISO/IEC Principles, minimum duration of 37 hours. 
  • Practical auditing experience of 10 days in management systems (e.g. ISO/ IEC 9000, BRCGS Food or GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 standards). 

Preference will be given to applicants already approved as a GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 QMS Auditor under a recognised certification body. Candidates who meet the technical qualification and experience requirements may also be considered.

Experience & Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of the horticulture industry and agribusiness sector. 
  • Experience in local and international market standards, regulatory environments, food safety, and quality systems. 
  • Background in agribusiness sector operations and compliance. 
  • Strong auditing, reporting, and problem-solving skills. 

Skills Required: 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management. 
  • Ability to analyse processes objectively and ensure adherence to standards. 
  • Effective time and project management skills. 

A full driver's licence, or the ability to obtain a New Zealand driver's licence, is required.

Please note we are looking for an already approved GLOBALG.A.P.  Option 2 QMS Auditor OR someone with the technical skills/qualifications already listed above.
