Global Finance Services (GFS) is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.

Our Purchase to Pay (P2P) team within GFS is responsible handles the end-to-end acquiring goods and services ensuring that the associated payments made to our suppliers, this includes overseeing the procurement process management, invoice processing, payment processing, suppliers’ relationship management, reimbursing expenses to employees, and Travel & Expense (T&E) transactional activities.

The role holder reports to the Global T&E Audit Manager and is accountable for:

  • Lead a high-performance audit team to deliver rapid, accurate, and compliant processing, driving efficiency through clear accountability, automation, and disciplined execution.

  • Operate and continuously optimize the risk-based audit tool, Oversight to proactively detect policy breaches, accuracy issues, and high-risk transactions, ensuring timely and targeted follow-ups.

  • Own and accelerate resolution of audit issues and escalations, enforcing strong governance while minimizing turnaround time and operational disruption.

  • Continuously refine audit parameters and thresholds to enhance exception detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and maximize audit productivity and system efficiency.

  • Drive strict adherence to processing SLAs and compliance standards, ensuring all exceptions are investigated, resolved, and documented with sound judgment and audit defensibility.

  • Deliver actionable, data-driven insights on T&E spending trends, identifying root causes, compliance risks, and leakage areas, and translating them into measurable improvement actions for Monthly Business Reviews.

  • Strengthen compliance culture through business partnership, engaging stakeholders to improve policy awareness, drive behavioral change, and embed first-time-right practices.

  • Collaborate closely with Global Assurance & Compliance to ensure timely escalation and investigation of suspected fraud or misconduct, upholding zero-tolerance governance standards.

  • Champion continuous improvement, standardization, and simplification, leveraging digital automation, analytics, policies and process optimization to enhance productivity, reduce manual effort, and increase control effectiveness across the global T&E audit process.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, or an equivalent professional qualification

  • Excellent oral and written communication in English

  • Proven team leadership experience

  • In-depth knowledge of T&E processes and compliance-related policies

  • Demonstrated project management capability

  • Inquisitive, investigative mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with digital and automation initiatives

  • Knowledge of Concur, SAP, and Oversight

  • Working experience in a shared service center within a global or large organization

  • Strong ability to resolve issues partnering with the service provider to implement change as required

  • Able to communicate at all levels and drive a change agenda through strong communication and stakeholder management to deliver measurable benefits

  • Comfortable working across global time zones and cultures
