Job Description

Our Global Technology (GT) group is a world-class technology team of 65,000+ technologists across 14 global hubs, backed by a $20B+ annual investment in technology. We employ an innovative, disciplined and business-focused approach to design, build and deploy everything from enterprise technology initiatives to innovations in Agentic / Generative AI, electronic payments, cybersecurity, machine learning, and cloud development. Within GT, the Global Technology Strategy team operates as an internal management consulting group under the Global Strategy team, working closely with the GT Executive Team to drive technology strategy and enable innovation across the firm. Our goal is to lead the creation of strategies and plans that define how technology should be utilized to enable the organization's overall business strategy, including in areas such as AI, Public Cloud Adoption, Quantum technology, Data strategy, and Employee and Customer Experience. As an Executive Director on the Global Technology Strategy team, you will lead project teams in solving complex problems and implementation issues critical to the company, work closely with senior leaders across GT and JPMorgan Chase, and own a portfolio of key strategic initiatives to evaluate the firmwide view on technology strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own initiatives/projects to solve diverse, complex problems at the forefront of the industry and considered high priority to Global Technology Leadership (e.g., modernization, AI, data, cloud), including restructuring businesses and enhancing organizational design to improve effectiveness
  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader for GT senior leaders, and collaborate with teams across Global Technology as well as other Businesses and functional areas
  • Frame the problems that the organization should be working on, bringing clarity and a defensible direction to the firm’s most complex, consequential and politically charged decisions
  • Monitor industry trends and apply industry-leading practices to evaluate the firmwide view on technology strategy
  • Scope and direct strategic thinking and problem-solving approach for project teams; develop team members and junior managers
  • Guide and mentor team members on professional development, including technology / tools upskilling. career advice, and communications

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 10+ years of business and technology strategy experience with hands-on delivery of complex solutions and ownership of global execution
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience leading implementation of large-scale technology solutions across a global, multi-region organization
  • Proven success leading firmwide transformation initiatives within the technology domain
  • Deep understanding of technical concepts and operating models sufficient to set technical strategy and interface with senior technologists, architects, and engineers
  • A systems-level perspective on how architecture, governance, risk, and talent interact at firm scale
  • Ability to distill widely variant feedback into root cause issues and provide actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence senior business and technology executives
  • Excellent technical and business presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling, credible narratives that weave together strategy, emerging technologies, and industry trends for both technical and non-technical senior audience

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Authoritative grasp of AI governance, model risk management, and designing operating models needed to scale emerging technologies in regulatory environments
  • Experience monitoring industry trends and applying leading practices to inform and evaluate firmwide technology strategy
  • Proven entrepreneurial style with the ability to operate with ambiguity and drive initiatives from concept to execution
  • Strong facilitation, process design, and influencing skills — including the ability to organize and prioritize critical issues to facilitate efficient executive decision-making
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration, including influencing stakeholders and working effectively with diverse global teams
